Meet Sharing Sets!
So a couple of days back I had my first encounter with
sharing sets.
This is how it happened. One of our users could not edit a
record created by a Customer Community User. Despite the sharing rules in
place. Whatever dummy sharing rules we set -
CreatedBy Not equal to XYZ - Share with GroupA
Group A just couldnt access the records created by our
Community Users.
After a lot of googling I stumbled upon this awesome post here
It gave me my first cue - this is to do with something
called as Sharing Sets and not Sharing Rules.
From then on it was a piece of cake.
·
Where you would find
sharing sets - Setup > Customize > Community Settings
·
Once of the sharing setting
page , choose the profile you want to apply the share set to ie the profile of
the user whose created record we need to share with our internal user.
·
Under the section "Access
Granted" determine which object needs be shared, based on what criteria
and what access level do we need them to have.
·
To actually share the
records with our internal people, click on the Share Group Settings tab under
Community Settings
·
And under Share Group
Members - add group of the internal users with whom you want to Share the
records with.
So bottom line - when you are looking to share records
created/owned by Community Users; you need Sharing Sets.
